Seeing My Boss

This event happened last week. President of Sutherland Institute Paul Mero spoke about why we protect marriage and family in the law during a pro-family rally at Provo Tabernacle. Interestingly, the editor of the Deseret News Joe Cannon also spoke at the event. Joe Cannon is the boss of the Deseret News, which means he’s also my boss. It was my first time seeing him in person, but I never thought I would meet him on an assignment.

Memorial at An Interesting Time

Archived in the category: City

This was a very interesting event, not because of the content of the event itself, but what was happening around the event at the park that time. In fact the event itself was no more than seeing people crying at a memorial. However, at the same time, 50 feet away from the memorial, there was big birthday party celebration and the music was pretty loud. It was really disturbing the atmosphere where people are remembering the dead of their family members. I just felt that it was a very interesting contrast: celebrating life and remembering the dead all happen at the same time.

Photos in the Zoo

Here is one photo got published yesterday. I got the assignment to take random photos at Hogle Zoo. I thought it would be an easy job because there were a lot of kids, but in fact, it was not that easy. When I got there, I was very tired for some reason and couldn’t find many good feature photos of a kid playing. I was there for two hours and finally got this one. However, the story about the zoo is very interesting.

Yellowstone National Park One-day Visit

Mary Beth and I spent this weekend at the Yellowstone National Park, but really, I only visit the park for one day. Of course, there’s no way we could see the entire park because it takes about an hour to get from one attraction area to another. However, we did see the Old Faithful Geyser and the world-famous waterfall, Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. It was an absolutely breathtaking place. I highly recommend you going.

Here are some photos I took at the BMX Park competition during the 2009 Dew Tour in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was amazing seeing the bikers doing the tricks in real life. I have only seen the competition on TV, and it seemed so far away. But when I was at the Dew Tour, it was whole different experience.

Today Mary Beth and I went to visit  Antelope Island State Park in the Great Salt Lake. It is an unique and beautiful island. It seems that this is the place where the water and sky connect. Here are some photos I took while we were at the park.

Bicycle Legend Fuzzy Hall

Kaysville motocross bicycle legend Tim “Fuzzy” Hall, or just Fuzzy Hall, is building a track for the BMX Dew Tour in Salt Lake City. The Dew Tour starts on Thursday, Sept. 17th, and ends on this Sunday, the 20th. You can go to the Dew Tour Web site and check it out. Fuzzy was cool guy, fast, straight forward, and helpful. The first thing I noticed when I met him yesterday was his arm veins. They look like that they were ready to pop out from his arm. I wish I had taken some photos of his arms, but I was on a tight schedule, so I only took few shots when he was packing the dirt with a golf cart.
